Peaches and Cream Popsicles

Did you know that I don’t love paper plates? Sure they are great for big gatherings, but on a day-to-day basis I like “real” dishes. Guess what? I hate plastic plates even more than paper ones. I don’t own a single plastic plate, even with three small children. I decided early on that I would own dishes and not shed a tear when they broke because breakage is inevitable. I also decided plain white and inexpensive were the way to go. I’ve bought three different sets of white dishes in the past few years and now the survivors are all mixed together. The white keeps them uniform even if the styles vary. Two of the sets of dishes are actually from Ikea and the third from a thrift store. My husband bought me the Ikea dishes for Christmas a few years ago and I love how well they’ve held up.
Since getting into blogging I have loved using my white dishes for food styling. It’s a very clean palette to work with. That being said, I’ve also been wanting to add a few colored dishes to my collection. A little contrast goes a long way. So when I was at Ikea earlier this month I picked out my first colored dish, some dish towels with fabulous texture and detail (great for food photography), and some of their popsicle molds. I am loving having a few new things to work with. I am a use-what-ya-got kind of gal, so having something new that I picked myself has been loads of fun. Thanks for that, Ikea.

Peaches and Cream Popsicles
Slightly adapted from My Baking Addiction
Printable Recipe

3 medium peaches
1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
1/4 cup milk or cream
2 T. honey or sugar

Peel, pit, and dice the peaches. You should have a little over a cup of diced peaches. In a medium bowl, add two-thirds of your peaches and mash them with a fork to create a puree. Add the rest of the diced peaches, yogurt, milk, and honey and stir to combine. Divide the peachy mixture between 6 popsicles molds and freeze until solid: anywhere from 6 hours to overnight.

Notes: Depending on the sweetness of the yogurt, adjust your honey or sugar to taste.
You can also use plain yogurt. Just add a little more sweetener (to taste) and a 1/2 tsp of vanilla.

These are the popsicle molds from Ikea (just under $2 for the set). I own four different popsicle molds. I like these a lot because once they are frozen you can take the individual pops from the holder and store them in the freezer separately. I don’t know about you, but my freezer is near bursting at all times. I like to be able to shuffle these into the freezer when I need a little more room.

I adore this milky green dish. My popsicles would have blended in too much with my normal white dishes.

And my, doesn’t it look nice on my hutch in my new pretty kitchen?

Just in case you missed it, this is the other project I did with my Ikea treasures.

Thanks for stopping by and have a peachy day.

Disclosure: Just for the record, I drove 3 hours to Ikea to attend an event for bloggers. You can read a post about that day here. Ikea gave me $25 to spend at their store and a delicious free breakfast. Ikea is going to check out all of the posts from the bloggers who attended and their favorite project will score a $200 Ikea gift card for the blogger (fingers crossed!). Let’s be honest, my Ikea opinions are real and mine because I wouldn’t have driven that far (with 3 kids by myself) if I didn’t already like the store.
